Ann Austen
Birth* | 1799 | Ann Austen was born in 1799 at Kent, EnglandB. |
Christening | 27 July 1799 | She was christened on 27 July 1799 at St. Dunstan, Cranbrooke, Kent, EnglandB. |
Marriage* | 5 December 1818 | She married William Bryant, son of William Bryant and Sarah Hunt, on 5 December 1818 at Benenden, Kent, EnglandB; church marriage record (No 60) shows William Bryant married Ann Austen on 5th December 1818 in the Benenden Parish Church by Banns with the consent (confent) of their parents. They were married by Vicar Daniel Boys in the presence (prefence) of William Piper and William Farley who both signed their names as witnesses. At the time of their marriage, neither William nor Ann were able to write as they both signed the Parish (Parifh) Register with their marks. |
Death* | 13 May 1882 | She died on 13 May 1882 at Stanmore, NSW, AustraliaB; she was 83 years old and died of congestion of the lungs of 3 days duration. The medical attendant was R T Jones who saw her on 12th May. The informant was her grandson George Harper who lived in Robert? Street, Petersham. At her death she had William 63, Kate (Catherine) 51, Harriet 43, John 41 and Alexander 39 living, with 3 females deceased.
Comments on Anne's Death Certificate (No. 3173): (MM) The death of Anne was reported by George Harper, her grandson (Sarah's son). He appears to have made a mistake on the death certificate as only 8 children are listed (3 females deceased and 5 children living - William age 63, Kate (Catherine) age 51, Harriet age 43, John age 41 and Alexander age 39) but there were 9 children born to William and Anne. There were actually 4 females deceased - Sarah, Lydia, Elizabeth and Eleanor. This can possibly be explained by the fact that Anne's daughter Elizabeth had died at the age of 12 yrs old and he may not have known about her. He could also have made a mistake about his grandmother's age -. |
Burial* | 14 May 1882 | She was buried on 14 May 1882 at Rookwood, NSW, AustraliaB; Anne was buried in the independent Section (or Old Methodist Section 2A, Row 11, Grave 601) at Rookwood by Kinsela, Undertaker. The Wesleyan Minister was Rev. H Youngware.
